Preston Way Bridge
Structural inspection on a busy bridge after receiving a poor grade from the NYDOT.
Mount Kisco, New York
2021
After receiving a poor grade on a recent inspection, it was determined Preston Way Bridge needed repairs/replacement related to deterioration with exposed steel beams around a southern column for the bridge’s western pier. The structure received a Yellow Flag warning from the state’s Department of Transportation (DOT).
Our firms provided structural design support and engineering services for the bridge replacement over the Harlem Branch of the Metro North railroad. The Harlem Branch of Metro North is a commuter rail line that serves 43,000 people daily, a vital conduit to NYC. Our personnel performed structural inspection work and field analysis required for the evaluation and design of the new bridge.
Ahneman Kirby, LLC also assisted in acquiring necessary permits and was responsible for monitoring the contractor’s compliance with the environmental permits.
